What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Denham Springs Church of Christ based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

We believe that God is eternal, uncaused cause of all creation. He is holy and infinite. He is one in three persons- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 3:26-27, Nehemiah 9:6, Revelation 4:11)
We believe that loving, worshiping, and obeying the God of the Bible is the most important purpose in life. (Psalm 86:8-13, Mark 12:29-30)

His Revelation

We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s only son sent to sinful mankind to save all those who would receive Him in faith through confession, repentance, and immersion baptism and that the gift and in dwelling of the Holy Spirit will help us to grow in Christ. (Isaiah 53:1-12, John 3:16-18, Acts 2:36-41)
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is “useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (Psalm 19:7-11, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21)

His Church

We believe that the church is important to every Christian’s growth and development. Since the Bible teaches that Jesus is the head of the church, we have no earthly headquarters. (Acts: 2:42-47, Ephesians 3:14-21; 4:1-16)
We believe that the family is the primary institution that God created and uses to develop faith. The family begins with marriage, which God defines as between one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:20-25, Deuteronomy 6:4-8, 2 Timothy 1:5;3:14-15)

His Return

We believe in the imminent second coming of Jesus Christ. To Christians it is the blessed hope, to the world it means judgement, to Christ it means the final fulfillment of all the promises of the Bible regarding His earthly kingdom. (Revelation 22:1-21, Titus 2:11-14, Acts 3:21)
