Jehovah Jireh: Four Lessons from the Flood

Aug 9, 2026    Mike Abbott

Drawing from the account of Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah, where Abraham named the place Jehovah Jireh meaning "the Lord will provide," this sermon reflects on the ten-year anniversary of the catastrophic 2016 Louisiana flood. Brother Mike uses this community-defining disaster as a lens through which four essential spiritual lessons are examined: the proper ordering of priorities, the revealing nature of pressure and crisis, the necessity of perseverance and patience, and the faithfulness of God's provision. Throughout, the sermon weaves together personal testimony, congregational history, and scriptural teaching to demonstrate that God provides not only through miraculous circumstances and the generosity of His church, but ultimately and eternally through Jesus Christ, who has gone to prepare a place for all who trust in Him.
