The Revelation of Jesus Christ: Truth Beyond Ulterior Motives

In the concluding message of the Knowing God series, the pastor examines Revelation chapter 1 to contrast the ulterior motives that pervade human society with the sincere, open, and sovereign nature of Jesus Christ. Drawing on the Greek meaning of "apocalypse" as disclosure rather than disaster, the sermon presents the book of Revelation not as a source of fear or confusion but as a pulling back of the curtain to reveal the true identity and majesty of Jesus. John the Apostle, suffering unjustly on the island of Patmos, receives a vision of the glorified Christ, and through that vision the church is invited to see Jesus as faithful witness, firstborn from the dead, ruler of kings, and returning Lord. The sermon calls believers to find grace, peace, and purpose in this revealed Christ, and invites the unconverted to respond to him in faith, repentance, and baptism.
